‘Bloody Felt’

Expires: 2024/05/14
Description

Casting and seeking crew for “Bloody Felt,” a student film. Calling all masochists and Muppet lovers. A USC 310 production short film needs your help.

A puppet variety show cast party goes horribly wrong when it’s revealed that there is a cannibalistic killer hiding among them. Will Froggit the Toad solve the mystery of who is killing the puppets at his party, or will he meet the same felt-y fate? Inspired by Brandon Rogers style humor, and looking to be a good middle ground between the horrors of The Muppet Christmas Carol, and the more tame experience of Meet the Feebles. This film is meant to be a good, gorey, fun time.

Note: Considering this is a student-run production, Puppet/Costume Builders should keep in mind that the cost of material we can provide for them to make their assigned pieces is limited.

7 Project roles
Froggit the Toad plus 2-3 Extras (Puppeteer)
Male
18+
Froggit the Toad is obviously a rip-off of Kermit the Frog. He's not only the leader and showrunner of Funtime with Froggit and Friends, but a bit of an arrogant, out-of-touch party animal, who has forgotten how seriously he should take his responsibilities as the leader of a variety show like this.

Fuzzy The Talking Teddy Bear plus 2-3 Extras (Puppeteer)
Male
18+
Fuzzy the Talking Teddy Bear is Froggit's best man, his sidekick, his bosom buddy if I may be so bold. He seems chill and a party animal, like Froggit is at first, but as we can see, he turns into a nervous, jittery mess once a tragedy occurs at the party. His panic and fear is what makes him stand out from Froggit.

Buchner the Mad Scientist plus 2-3 Extras (Puppeteer)
Male
18+
Buchner The Mad Scientist is the cracked out druggie of the party. Out of all the guests there, he most definitely snorted the most. And it's revealed later that he may be playing a bigger role in the murder mystery than he let on.

Blood/Gore Specialist
Someone who is well versed in low-budget blood and gore for the finale of our film, which involves a humanoid puppet eating all the other puppets at the party. We want a bloody, felty, not-so-expensive gore fest for the ending of the film.

Puppet/Costume Builders
The production just needs some support in making some of the background characters/costumes for our production. Funds to make the assigned pieces will be offered, but please keep in mind that we are on a tight budget, and can't provide an infinite budget for you. Looking for Sesame Street/Muppet/Meet the Feebles style puppets, that look cheap and a tad disturbing. Think of Roy from Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared. Think of the weird Yip Yip creatures from Sesame Street. We're going for a similar kind of manic, B-movie kind of energy.

Music Composer
Looking for a versatile, experimental composer. This film combines many different musical styles into an almost nauseating, but interesting mish-mash of music for a five-and-a-half minute film. We want to combine Muppet/Sesame Street style tunes, with dubstep/EDM for the party scenes, with traditional horror notes for the murder mystery, and at the end, we want to go full Argent Metal, or Heavy Metal for the carnage scene. If you cannot cover all of these styles, still feel free to reach out for this role. We may end up needing more than one composer. Keep in mind that we are a student production, and our budget has been limited by the school.

Gaffer
Looking for an intermediate/experienced gaffer to light my Muppet murder mystery/horror film, Bloody Felt. Hoping to use as little equipment as possible, but if there’s anything necessary you’d need, I could most likely rent it. I want to light with LEDs and light panels as opposed to Tungsten lights or fresnel lights. We shoot April 6th, 7th, 13th, and the 14th at a location close to USC. All crew will be provided a meal a day, crafty, an invitation to see the finished film at the Norris Theater, and a digital AND physical copy of the film.
