About the project:
Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. With a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages around the world.
Additional info:
At your audition, you will be asked to sing about one minute of a song from Matilda or from a similar musical. Directors will not be asking you to dance or read sides at the initial auditions but will ask for both if you are invited to join us for callbacks.
Callbacks will be on Monday, 3/4, 6:30-8:30 pm.
You will also be asked about costume sizing before auditioning. If you have past experience on stage or singing, you are welcome to bring and attach a theater resume to your audition form.
Casting will be finalized no later than Wednesday, 3/6.
Before you audition, please make sure you do not have any conflicts during Tech Week, 5/11-5/16, or either weekend of the show, 5/17-5/19, and 5/24-5/26 (Memorial Day weekend).
Rehearsals start on Monday, 3/11 with a read-through with the full cast and crew.
Weekly rehearsals will be on:
Mondays, 6:30-8:30 pm – Blocking/Choreo
Some Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm – Blocking or Music Specials
Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm – Music Rehearsals
Sundays, 1:00-5:00 pm – Review of the previous week, plus new blocking/choreography.
Not everyone will be called for every rehearsal.
There will be no rehearsals on:
Sunday, 3/31 (Easter).
Sunday, 5/12 (Mother’s Day).
The week of Spring Break, 4/14-4/20.
