What you need to prepare for your audition:
Please prepare one or two monologues (1-2 minutes each). These are short, memorized speeches from a play that showcase your acting range.
Directors may ask you to prepare “sides” (short excerpts from the script) in advance of the audition. If so they will send you the excerpt. You may be asked to read these cold (without prior rehearsal).
Cold Reading: You might be handed a script on the spot and asked to perform it with little preparation.
Improvisation: directors may test your ability to think on your feet with improv exercises.
Special Skills: If the play calls for something specific (e.g., stage combat, an accent, juggling), you might be asked to demonstrate it.
