Singing Audition for “Rent” Musical

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Seeking singers, actors, and performers for an upcoming production of the revolutionary rock musical, “RENT”. More detals are below.

Call backs: Sunday September 21 – time TBA
Audition & Rehearsal address: Etobicoke.
Rehearsal schedule:
Sunday’s from: 5pm – 9pm for the first 3 weeks, then starting on Oct 19th, changes to 12pm – 5pm Tuesday & Thursday’s from: 7pm – 10pm.
Tech Week: February 21 – 25.
Show Dates: February 26 – March 8.
Prepare to sing a song in the style of the show.
VOCAL AUDITION:
Those auditioning should prepare a vocal audition. Vocals should not be longer than 60 seconds. Sing a song from the time period of the show or a song that you think shows your singing voice off the best (preferably in the rock style). A speaker with an iPhone jack will be available if you have recorded music. Please have music downloaded and or stream from YouTube, Spotify, Internet, etc… You may also sing acapella. An accompanist will be provided for this audition for anyone that has sheet music.
DANCE:
A dance combination will be taught at the auditions for anyone interested in a role that requires dancing.
CALLBACKS:
After auditions have concluded, the directors will determine who is needed for callbacks. Singing songs from the show, cold readings from the script and possibly more dancing can be expected for callbacks.
Callbacks will be by directors’ invitation only.
Please note that not every character will require a callback.
Not receiving a callback does not necessarily mean you will not be casted, nor does receiving a call back guarantee you will be casted.
