About the project:
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Additional info:
Please prepare a 16 bar musical number. An accompanist will be provided for sheet music. Blue tooth is also available. Please no pop/rap songs (ie Taylor Swift, Katie Perry etc.) If you have any questions regarding song selections please contact one of the directors.
Please wear comfortable shoes. You may be asked to do some dance steps.
You will be asked to do a reading as well. After sign up you will receive a link to the google drive where the directors have images of the pages you may be asked to read as well as the songs.
As the chemistry of this ensemble cast is important, if necessary callbacks will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 starting at 6:00pm, please plan to be available.
Please note, not being called back does not necessarily mean you will not be cast in the show.
Rehearsals will begin Thursday, April 24th at 6:00pm and will run

The story’s enthusiastic, clever, and funny narrator with very high energy. Fun-loving, wise, attentive, and enjoys rhyming. Pops up throughout the story to help the audience. Should be comfortable moving/dancing quickly and adapting to the environment.

The Mayor's son, a Who that is always finding trouble. Bright, creative, and inadvertently mischievous. Possesses a wildly expansive imagination and finds solace in his friendship with Horton.
