About the project:
Seeking actors of all ethnicities for the timeless story of love, loss and the power of female friendship, “Steel Magnolias”. Before the iconic 1989 film broke box office records nationwide, Louisiana salon owner Truvy first set up shop on the stage. The colorful cast of regulars and employees that frequent her establishment include a motherdaughter duo planning a wedding, a woman whos been in a bad mood for 40 years, and a mysterious newcomer. Through laughter, tears, and a thick fog of hairspray, these women face trials and triumphs armed with their greatest strength: each other.

$1,000 principal role
$875 understudy role

All roles will be understudied.
PREPARATION:
Please prepare two (2) contrasting contemporary monologues no longer than 1 minute each, at least one of which shows a Southern, Louisiana-based dialect. One monologue should show dramatic range, and one should show comedic skills.
If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions, video submissions are welcome.
